Hotwater Gallery, alongside curator, Scott Riggs, curated a captivating photo anthology encapsulating the vibrant pulse of San Diego's music scene spanning three dynamic decades. Front and center, we spotlight the unparalleled lensmanship of Sean McMullen, the esteemed house photographer of an iconic venue, the Casbah. Joining him are contemporary luminaries of the pit like Becky DiGiglio and Rick Perez, whose images pack raw energy and candid emotion. In a poignant tribute, we pay homage to the late O, a polymathic figure—musician, producer, skateboarder, and visionary photographer—whose untimely departure left a void felt deeply within the creative community. As echoed by the heartfelt words of Mark Hoppus from blink-182, “a friend and mentor. And not just for us. For so many musicians, athletes, and photographers...”

Centered around O's groundbreaking oeuvre, our exhibition unveils his transcendent vision to the world showcasing 10 of his photographs, featuring Starcrawler, Green Day, Anya Marina, J Mascis, Ty Segall,PPL MVR; marking a poignant celebration of his enduring legacy with his friends and fans on our opening night.

Solo Artist Exhibition: Taylor Gallegos

The Artist Who Stole His Own Work

Refusing to let his masterpiece rot in a forgotten storage space, he smashed norms and snatched it. Now, "The Gatekeeper" stands as a fierce symbol of his artistic rebellion and relentless dedication to his craft.

Hotwater Gallery proudly unveiled Taylor Gallegos' self-proclaimed magnum opus, 'The Gate Keeper,' in an unprecedented debut. Measuring a striking 5' x 8', this canvas masterpiece was boldly presented, affixed directly to the gallery wall, deliberately emphasizing the raw edges and visceral imperfections adorning its periphery. These deliberate ruptures serve as a poignant testament to Taylor's audacious act of liberation—a daring heist from the very festival that initially commissioned his brushstrokes. As the festival's curtain descended, Taylor found himself ensnared by contractual confines, forbidding him ownership of his own creation. In a swift act of defiance, he liberated his creation from its wooden canvas frame, deftly rolling it into the confines of his Prius, evading festival authorities with a cunning swiftness. His brazen act of artistic insurgency only compounded as he confessed to his grand theft, igniting a narrative that catapulted 'The Gate Keeper' into the spotlight as the centerpiece of our gallery exhibition.
